Happy Fourth of July

View from my office: Rose Festival Fireworks, Portland Oregon.  May 27, 2011
Happy 4th of July to my American friends and Happy (belated) Canada Day to my friends up north.  To the rest of the world - have a great week!

P.S.  I'm finishing a four day break which also served as a kind of honeymoon for me and my new Android smartphone.  My online activity has been almost exclusively devoted to learning how to best take advantage of its capabilities.  Regular blog commenting will resume shortly.  I've been reading, but I couldn't figure out how to accurately type on this @#$^% touchscreen keyboard, 'til I discovered "Graffiti" which lets me write out the characters like the old Palm Pilot days. Sweet!

P.P.S.  Do I dare download Angry Birds?  I hear it's crazy-addictive.

So tell me, how did you spend your weekend?

  1. I want to know what you think of Angry Birds. I'm afraid to try it...

  2. My phone was held hostage by my angry birds addicted kids until they got their ipads. I'd cautiously peer over their shoulder while they were angry birding it but never ventured any farther in than that.

    Good luck!

  4. Angry Birds is fun! I played a lot when I first downloaded the app but don't think I got to the addicted stage.

  5. Lovely picture of the fireworks. I shot a couple myself of the fireworks over the Mall from the Virginia side of the Potomac.

Just got a new iPhone, soooo, can't really help when it comes to an android. But there are some cool aps out there.

  6. Late replies, folks, sorry!

Helen - On your advice I did download Angry Birds...

and Sadie, while it is a fun game and sucks one in once its going I don't find it as addictive and complelling as say, Tetris, thankfully.

Botut - I can see why your kids were enjoying the game so much. Having to kit out three children with ipads can't have come cheap, but its a sure way to create (and keep) some peace, no?

Nicki - I read about your weekend... yet another sailing adventure.

Krysta - yes, I found that it isn't as addictive as I feared.

Foggy Dew - Thanks for stopping by - and your firework photos were fantastic.

  7. I think you must have found Angry Birds and this is why you have been so quiet. Do we need to send in a rescue squad? ;-)

  8. Hi Renee - due to a operator error, a couple of my recent posts went MIA, but they are up again. I am still here and managing to resist the pull of Angry Birds. Mostly.
